Procrastinating is something that we all have done at one time or another, but some people have taken procrastination to an art form. One procrastinating meaning is to intentionally or habitually put off doing something that you know needs to be done. This could be anything from simply going to the store to get milk to doing a job that will keep you from being fired. Those who have procrastinated daily tasks can cause themselves and their family members many different problems.

Why do People Procrastinate?
There are many reasons why people procrastinate. Polls show that twenty percent of the population describe themselves as chronic procrastinators. For these people procrastination has become a lifestyle although this type of lifestyle is counterproductive. This type of person is under constant stress because they do not pay their bills on time, they miss many different opportunities, and they typically file their taxes late. This type of person does not seem to understand that there are ways for them to become more productive by working less.

Typically, these types of people do not suffer from an inability to plan or manage their time; actually, they usually have plenty of time on their hands. The problem is they just do not put forth any effort to accomplish daily tasks. Many psychologists claim that procrastinating makes people feel good, which is true. Even though they are continually under stress, they get a strange satisfaction from making excuses, and finding new reasons to put off the things they should be getting done because they don’t know how to define procrastinating. One thing these types of people need to understand about procrastinating definition is that they were not born to delay their work or in any area in life.

Why you should stop Procrastinating
If you are an accomplished procrastinator, there are many reasons why you need to stop. One of the main reasons not to stop this unproductive habit is to become more productive in your life. Those that habitually waste time tend to drag their feet in every area of their lives. They procrastinating homework, work chores, they put their wife, kids and bosses on the back burner. These types of people tend to wait until the last minute to do the work that needs to be done which leads them to do work that is low quality. This then leads to a situation where procrastinators are continually letting people down.

How to Stop Procrastinating
Procrastinating-adviceIf you research methods to stop procrastinating, you will find that there are many theories about how to stop this bad habit. Many people will suggest that these types of people need therapy in order to stop, while others suggest that all they need to do is just stop dawdling and start doing what they need to do when they need to get it done. There are many different suggestions about how to, just stop putting off what needs to be done. Most of these theories include ideas about becoming better at managing your time like making lists of what you need to do each day. Some say that by doing the hardest task of the day first it will give the procrastinator motivation to do the rest of the chores they need to be done. Another suggestion is to stop thinking and start doing or to stop blowing your chores out of proportion.

For the procrastinator all of these suggestions are viable, the key is that the person must make up their mind that they are tired of spinning their wheels and ready to jump back into life. You are a procrastinator, and you are tired of the problems that are caused by this counter-productive habit, then choose a method and use it to get back on track. Whether you decide to use “Find Your Focus” or try to change your habits on your own, the key is to try something. It will take time and will power, but once you put procrastinating aside, you will find that your life is easier, less stressful, and more rewarding.
